Usually, yes. Repaired slabs can have patched spots or areas that aren't quite level. The installer checks flatness and cracks at the free measurement. Small, stable cracks don't show through a floating plank, while an uneven crack or dip gets ground or filled first so the floor sits flat.
We have one of the original small Spring Hill houses. Is vinyl plank a good fit?
Yes. Small homes often go quickly, and one plank through the living room, hall and kitchen makes a small house feel less chopped up. After fifty-plus years, expect a few low spots or old repairs in the slab. The installer finds those at the measurement and includes any leveling in the estimate.
Our Hernando Beach canal home flooded in Helene. How soon can we replace the floors?
Only after the house is fully dried and the wall and electrical repairs are done. Drying the house is a separate job, and we handle the floor that goes back. A moisture reading at the measurement shows whether the slab is ready. If the house is going up on a taller foundation, plan on a framed wood floor, and the installer will look it over for soft spots and bounce.
Our 1920s Brooksville house has floors that dip. What happens with that?
Some dips can be leveled on top of the subfloor. A bigger sag usually points to a weak joist or a settled support, which needs a carpenter before new flooring. The installer tells you which you have at the free measurement, and nothing gets ordered until the base is sound.
Our Timber Pines villa has tile everywhere. Can it all be done at once?
