The name was suggested in 1949 and became official in September 1950. Over the years the community took in Denham, Ehren and Gowers Corner. US 41 runs through it as Land O' Lakes Boulevard, State Road 54 crosses the south end, and the Suncoast Parkway runs along the west side. Dupree Gardens, one of Florida's first roadside attractions, was here, and so are the Conner Preserve and Cypress Creek Preserve today. The community had 35,929 residents in 2020, up about 12 percent from 2010.
Lake Padgett Estates is built around several ski and boating lakes, with homes mostly from the 1980s through the 2000s. Lake living is hard on floors. It swallowed two homes and a boat, grew to about 260 feet across and was the largest ever recorded in Pasco County. Seven homes were condemned. Cracks matter for flooring. Tile is bonded to the slab, so a crack underneath can crack the tile above it. Floating vinyl plank isn't glued down, so a small, stable crack usually stays hidden. A crack with one side higher than the other is different, and the installer checks for that at the measurement. Connerton is still building, and plenty of new owners there want plank in place of carpet soon after closing.

Our slab has hairline cracks. Can vinyl plank go over it?
Usually, yes. Floating vinyl plank isn't bonded to the slab, so a thin, stable crack doesn't transfer up the way it can through tile. The installer checks each crack at the measurement.
