Celery Fields to College-Town Suburbs
Oviedo was a celery and citrus town where chickens walked the downtown streets. Then UCF opened five miles south, and the town grew from about 3,000 people in 1980 to more than 40,000 by 2020.
Andrew Aulin set up a post office here in the late 1870s and named it after the Spanish city of Oviedo. Through the 1940s the local economy ran on citrus and celery. The Econ flooded our house during Ian. Can new plank go right on the slab now?
Only after the slab is fully dry. Concrete can hold moisture for a long time after a flood, even when it looks dry. The installer tests the slab at the measurement. If it's still wet, the floor waits. Putting a floor over a wet slab is how mold and adhesive problems start.
Is it worth putting in new floors if we're near the river or Lake Jesup?

After a flood, drywall and baseboards still need attention, and whether the floor can stay depends on how long the water sat and what's underneath. That's a judgment made case by case.

Flooring makers publish a temperature range, and a few days without air conditioning in a Florida summer is something most products are built to ride out.
